The Engagement Ring

Well gents, this is the blog post you don't want your ladies to see, so I am apologising in advanced.

I thought it may be time to feature some of the most amazing engagement rings I have had the pleasure of photographing over the past few months. Yes, these rings may make you smile...they may make you cry....they may even give you a little bit of "Engagement Ring Envy", but you will have to admit, they are pretty damn spectacular!

Dan & Jennifer // Sydney Wedding

I was immediately taken aback by this day. What an amazing vibe to walk into! I felt totally relaxed, with a sense of calm that was evident with the smiles on the boys' faces. I love seeing my grooms, very chilled, laughing, lounging and enjoying a beer. For me, this is perfect! Not only does it make me feel instantly part of the family (which I love,) but it just makes for great candid pictures. For all my couples, this time really is the calm before the storm. It's the best feeling, seeing my grooms so relaxed, ready for the crazy afternoon which is to come. Ready for the friends and family to bombard them, each wanting their attention.

After running through the city, again, to my surprise, the feeling/vibe was much the same with the bride... so relaxed!

I walked into one of the beautiful suites of the Sydney Hilton Hotel to see the girls so peaceful, laughing, sipping champagne, and doing the very important, last minute touch ups.

Ok, so there it was, Jen's dress! Wooo....the genius dress maker, Steve Kahlil, totally blew me away! Yes, I have seen a lot of amazing dresses, but I was completely struck with the sheer detail and craftsmanship in this particular gown. I was busting to get some beautiful portraits of her in this stunning number. It was easy to see that she would look absolutely amazing... and as you can see from the pics, she did.

The rest of the day was exactly the same as it had started. Beautiful, chilled, relaxed... what a beautiful day to capture! I can't thank you two enough again for having me, the pleasure was all mine.

Dan & Vic // Queenstown, NZ

I was totally stoked to be asked to shoot Dan+Vic's super rad wedding in Queenstown, NZ. Not just because it was in an epic location, but because Dan is an amazing wedding photographer himself. It's always humbling to be asked to shoot other wedding photographers weddings, but also one of the scariest...ha!

Thanks so much Dan+Vic... You guys are legends and I was honoured to shoot your beautiful wedding day!

Harry & Emma

In December of last year, I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of New York-based celebrity publicist Emma Cooper and renowned playwright Harry Cripps.

Harry & Emma shared their vows on a stunning Sydney day in the beautiful Shore Chapel in North Sydney, before heading to Taronga Zoo for the reception where guests were treated to an acoustic performance by Suzie DeMarchi from the Baby Animals and a moving solo by Tim Freedman from The Whitlams.

Among the friends and family present were long-time friend and chief bridesmade Naomi Watts and her husband Liev Schreiber, as well as Simon Baker, Rose Byrne, John Pulson, Diesel and close family friend Collette Dinnigan.

From the very beginning of the day I was made to feel so welcome and it was an absolute honour and a privilege to be a part of this day. I can honestly say this has been one of the hardest weddings to blog as it was nearly impossible to leave out so many of the beautiful moments captured during the day!

I’ll leave you with this selection below of what was an amazing day…enjoy!

Feature // Wedding Gowns

"Brides on their own"

All my brides put a huge amount of love and attention into their gowns, and I love to make sure I capture well as trying to include the natural beauty and elements of the day.

I just thought I would show you a few shots of just them on their own.

I know there a few dramatic ones. ...but I do have ones with plenty of laughter in them... trust me!

Stormy afternoon @ North Narrabeen

Came across some shots I took about 2 summers ago.

Gosh I really need to go through all my external drives!!

Hot summers afternoon, storm approaching; I grabbed my little underwater "Point & Shoot" camera raced on down to the water.

Upon venturing out the back, I bumped into my lovely wife's uncle 'Keith'. Perfect! What a great chance to capture his relaxing afternoon swimming out north Narrabeen, along with some other swimmers....

Feature // Capture Magazine

I know its been a little while between blogs, moving studio's and shooting a bunch of beautiful weddings have kept me flat out! And its winter!

I promise to all those who do actually care, I will share some amazing shots with you all very soon...

I got sent this just a few days ago and thought I would share. Momento (Album company) and their choice in photographer for their back cover advertising on Australia's leading Pro-Photography magazine.

You could say, I was happy with their choice! hehe
